Legislative Effort

At the December membership meeting, CACEO members approved an effort to revise Colorado Revised Statutes to include "Code Enforcement Officer" in the definitions for assault and securing personal information on the internet.

Currently, only those employed as a peace officer, firefighter or emergency medical provider are listed as and protected by the law under the aforementioned state statutes. There is no provision for or inclusion of those individuals employed as a Code Enforcement Officer by a state, local or county jurisdiction, who are responsible for and charged with enforcing the environmental, building, land use, property maintenance and nuisance codes and local ordinances.

CACEO is asking for help from its members to further this effort.  Below, you will find links to a letter that we are asking CACEO members to complete and send to the state Senator and Representative for the jurisdiction you are currently employed.  You will also find a link to the State of Colorado website page that allows you to search for your Senator/Representative.

Thank you all in this important undertaking!
